Сyberghost is a pretty popular name when it comes to VPNs. So today let’s find out how good Cyberghost is. Cyberghost doesn’t keep any logs on its users. It accepts Bitcoin as an anonymous form of payment. They do meet privacy tools i/o criteria, which is an excellent accomplishment.
Cyberghost offers DNS leak protection and they use RSA 4096 handshake encryption as well as an ES 2006 data encryption. Jurisdiction is based on Romania, which is outside of the 14 Eyes. It is not considered an enemy of the Internet. You will find a full system-wide kill switch which is a great security feature to have.
So all in all, there are no major red flags with the security of SCI red ghost. Based on the personal usage, it can be said that there are no leaks or instances, where they hand over information.
Speed and Performance
There is no point in having a secure VPN if it will not load webpages. Multiple speed tests were run throughout the day with and without a VPN, and on average cyber IGAs decreased download speed by about 10%, upload speed by 18 % and ping decreased by 20 milliseconds. Cyberghost can`t be recommended for its speed, but it’s still pretty good.
Cyberghost offers a decent amount of settings but nothing too crazy. Some of the settings they offer our automatic grunt startup, which is expected in any VPN profile. That startup is unusual, and there isn`t anything similar in another VPN yet. You can set:
- program exclusions, so the VPN doesn’t run inside of a specific program
- proxy configurations
- custom DNS settings
- basic protocol selection, but nothing too advanced
- profiles for different Wi-Fi networks you connect to
There is an app protection area, which will establish a connection inside a specific program with a profile. In addition to all of this, when you’re connecting to a server, you can enable their malicious site filter. You can block ads using the service block online tracking force HTTPS and you can have data compression so you don’t use as much data back. There isn`t a similar feature in any VPN service.
Cyberghost VPN could be recommended to a person looking for common basic settings but not to an advanced user. VPN is pretty good for settings and customization, with that in mind, if you’re an advanced user, you will not find advanced settings.
The usage is pretty positive, however, the layout of the program is a lot different than other programs out there. Cyberghost uses a wizard type of system where you pick and choose what you want to do. You use the blocks you need. Developers refer to this as a one-click solution where you select what you want to do and then they’ll offer specific little settings panel for that specific connection.
Cyberghost works on Windows, and there are no issues on OS X. Unfortunately, Cyberghost does not offer a Linux client so you have to download VPN profiles individually. The Android app is ok, yet, the one-click solution works not very well on mobile devices. It’s more of a desktop interface, but everything works as expected. Settings are extremely minimal, so if you’re looking for a lot of mobile customization, you need to look for another VPN service. iPhone app is even more minimal on settings but outside of that, it was exactly the same experience as Android.
Cyberghost VPN Servers
You will have over a thousand servers offered by Cyberghost in about 59 different countries. It is a fantastic selection. However, there is a problem with p2p usage torrenting. You can`t torrent on any servers based in:
- the USA
That means if you are trying to tour it in the United States, you will not be able to connect to a server inside of the United States for the best speeds. The reason why Cyberghost does this is that they say they are forced by providers to block torrent traffic. This sounds strange, because there are plenty of VPNs out there that have no issue allowing p2p traffic inside of these countries.
During the usage of Cyberghost for about a month there were no issues at all. That means: no crashes, no stability issues, bugs, random disconnects, logouts. None of that happened. Cyberghost is a very reliable program with a good using experience.
Here are a few things you should know about Cyberghost before you consider getting it. They allow up to five simultaneous devices which is higher than a lot of services out there. Cyberghost doesn`t provide full service for Linux users, while there is no Linux client. VPN provides excellent security, so if you’re a high security user, who’s looking to protect your entire general web browsing this may be a good option for you.
